Respite care: a short stay for your loved one, a real break for you

Caring for someone at home is hard work. Sometimes you need a few days away, a trip, or just a full night's sleep. A respite stay gives your loved one a short stay with us, up to 14 days, and gives you a real break.

Your loved one gets a room, a seat at our table, help with daily care, and caregivers in the house day and night.

When families call us

What's included

What we need before arrival

We're a small home with six beds, and a respite guest uses one of them. That means respite depends on having a room open. Call us early, and if we're full we'll add you to our list.

If they want to stay

Some families find their loved one is happier here than they expected. If you'd like them to stay on, we can talk about moving in before the respite stay ends.

Good to know

Is Mary's House a nursing home?
No. Mary's House is a licensed assisted living home. Our caregivers help with daily care, but we don't provide nursing care. Home health and hospice can visit when a doctor orders them.
How long can a respite stay be?
Up to 14 days. You pick the departure date when you sign the respite agreement.
Does Medicare pay?
Medicare doesn't pay for respite in assisted living. Some long-term care insurance policies do, so check yours. Mary's House works with Florida Medicaid Long-Term Care plans from Humana, UnitedHealthcare and Simply Healthcare. Ask us and we'll check your coverage with you.
